Olive Plaid Pit Pocket Pinafore Apron (S-L)
Olive Plaid Pit Pocket Pinafore Apron (S-L)

This apron features my signature "pit pockets" where I turn the arm holes of a shirt into pockets. This allows me to use more of the material in both length and width, and gives some pretty darn BIG pockets.
The applique on the pinafore was the exact pieces offcut from cutting out the pocket pieces. I made a video showing the making of this apron on Instagram, here!
Upcycled from:
- a Faded Glory flannel shirt
- secondhand coral with tiny flowers cotton fabric
- new 100% cotton twill tape for the ties
Any corners on the apron, such as the pocket edges, are reinforced with tack stitches.
No waste here, all parts of the materials have either been used, or will be used in future projects. Not an inch of thread goes to the landfill.
In order to reduce waste, I make each apron specifically to fit the available material(s), so they will all be slightly different sizes. The ties make them adjustable, but they are not exactly one-size-fits-all.
The given size range is an estimate based on several size charts, and those sizes would best fit the specific apron with modest coverage and a gap at the back. So if you are outside of those given sizes, expect more or less coverage from the apron (i.e. it may wrap around like a skirt if larger, or it may just cover the front if smaller.)
Use these measurements if you are unsure - they are the measurements of the actual apron, not body measurements.
MEASUREMENTS:
Waistband: 25 in
Length of apron skirt: 23 in
Length of ties: 58 in each
Pinafore length x width: 7x9 in
(For reference, my waist in the photo was around 27 in)
(Phot note: images of the green flannel have a reddish tint in the center, this is a camera glitch, not fading).

Your clothes aren't disposable.
Neither are the clothes or linens I use to make these aprons!
Protect the clothes you already have, and give new life to these misfit materials.
I carefully craft each one to utilize as much of the material as possible. Which means they'll all be different sizes - but hey, so are we.
Measurements of each apron are listed in the item's description! The clothing sizes listed are approximate, and should be used as a guide. If you are typically outside those sizes, expect more or less coverage.
Seams and pockets are reinforced, so you can wash and wear for years to come.
